How to Register

Come to the Campus Voting Hubs! You can register and participate in Michigan’s 9 days of Early Voting!

October 24th – November 1st

12–6pm, every day, including Saturdays and Sundays

UMMA: 525 S. State Street

Duderstadt Center Gallery: 2281 Bonisteel Boulevard

You can still register and vote in Ann Arbor up to and including on Election Day.

The Campus Voting Hubs will be open on Monday, November 2nd from 11-4pm and—for people who still need to register—on Election Day, Tuesday, November 3rd from 7am–8pm.

You’ll be asked for two things:

• An official photo ID, such as your MCard
• Either a Michigan Driver’s License (or State ID) OR the last four digits of your Social Security Number.

Yes. If you don’t have a photo ID, you can still register. You’ll just need to sign a simple form called an affidavit.

If you think you are already registered, it’s a good idea to double-check on the Michigan Voter Information Center. If you have recently completed a registration form and do not find your registration, check back—your registration should be active within a few weeks. If you still need help, come to a Campus Voting Hub to check (or re-register) in person.

Yep! College students can choose to register and vote at either their permanent address or their local address. If you'd like to change your registration address, visit a Campus Voting Hub, stop by Ann Arbor City Clerk's Office at City Hall, or go online to register in Ann Arbor.

You can also stop by a TUT table to pick up a paper registration form.

Starting October 21st, you will need to register in person. You can visit one of the Campus Voting Hubs (or City Hall) and bring:

• A photo ID such as your MCard
• Either a Michigan Driver’s License (or State ID) OR the last four digits of your Social Security Number

AND

• Proof of Residency. If you are at U-M, you can show proof of residency with the “current local address” on your Wolverine Access portal. You can also use an official document like a lease, paycheck, bank statement, or current utility bill.

Yes, but—there’s no reason to wait!

Michigan law allows you to register in person up to and including Election Day.

It’s easy to get it done sooner at the Campus Voting Hub, which will be open from October 1st at UMMA. A second Campus Voting Hub opens at the Duderstadt Gallery on October 21st.

In order to register and vote in Ann Arbor, you must be 18 by Election Day, be a U.S. citizen, and have lived at a City of Ann Arbor address for 30 days by Election Day.

No, you do not need to register for each election. However, you will need to re-register if you moved since you last registered, changed your name, or if your signature has changed.

It’s always a good idea to double-check your registration before an election. It only takes a few minutes to check online at the Michigan Voter Information Center.

If you moved since the last election, you will need to re-register at your new address. That includes each time you change residence halls or move within Ann Arbor!

Through October 21st:

• You can register online with a Michigan Driver’s License or State ID.
• You can register by mail (download and mail the registration form), or get a form (and envelope!) from U-M’s Turn Up Turnout student group.

If you still need to register on Election Day and you’re eligible to vote, you need to register in person at your local city/township clerk’s office. Find your clerk at mi.gov/vote.

You’ll just need to do a little more advance planning by checking your state’s deadlines for registration and instructions for absentee voting (vote by mail). Vote.gov can connect you to your state’s election site.

Stuff happens! If you’re a college student, you can still vote by registering with your local Michigan address. If you live in Ann Arbor, you can register and vote at one of the Campus Voting Hubs or City Hall. If you live in another city, you can visit your local clerk’s office.
