Turn Up Turnout

Turn Up Turnout (TUT) is a University-sponsored student organization that focuses on non-partisan civic engagement for all interested students, including voter registration support, education, and turnout for those who are eligible.

Need help with getting registered?

You can find us doing registration tabling across campus throughout the semester. We regularly table at Shapiro Undergrad Library on Tuesdays, from 11:30am–3:30pm.

We also regularly table at special events. Follow our Instagram: @umturnout.

Look for our friendly faces and TUT banners! If you have questions or need help with voter registration, don’t hesitate to stop by and talk with us. We’re here to help with:

  • Voter Registration: We understand that the registration process and information can be overwhelming. Want to talk it through with a fellow student? Let’s chat!
  • Voter Education: Learn about the voting process, key dates, and how to navigate your ballot.

If you can’t catch us in person and still have questions, no worries! Reach out to our email at [email protected], and one of our leaders will get back to you.

To stay updated on our events, tabling locations, and all things voting follow us on Instagram @umturnout.

Through TUT, I have participated in so many memorable and unique experiences from ushering lines at the polls on campus to presenting informational Dinners for Democracy to meeting and speaking with the Michigan Secretary of State.

Walk to the Polls

Walk to the Polls is a TUT initiative that encourages eligible students to vote and other students to learn about the voting process during the 9 days of Early Voting.

Students meet in groups at a designated location and then walk together to the nearest on-campus satellite clerk's office (UMMA or Duderstadt Gallery). Those who are eligible and desire to vote in the City of Ann Arbor may then do so. TUT reps are also on hand to provide support to those who vote elsewhere. We encourage units across campus—such as schools and colleges, departments, or student organizations—to sign up to host a Walk to the Polls for their students.

If you’re interested in learning more about or hosting your own Walk to the Polls, please reach out to us at [email protected].
